Introduction

In 2025, the Association Committee established the Kemish Award in honour of the late WO2 (QMS(AC)) Trevor Kemish, whose legacy and remarkable contributions have left a lasting impact on the Association. This award recognises individuals whose dedication and service reflect the values Trevor championed throughout his military career and as a member of our Association.

The Association Kemish Award Troph

The Kemish Award Trophy, presented annually by the Artillery Clerks' Association in recognition of exceptional service and dedication.

Purpose and Vision

The Kemish Award is a prestigious annual honour that recognises exceptional contributions by a member or honorary member of the Artillery Clerks' Association. Created to celebrate Trevor’s enduring legacy of unity, collaboration, and growth, the award aims to inspire all members—current and future—to play an active and meaningful role in supporting the Association and its ongoing mission.

Eligibility Criteria

The award is open to all active, paid-up members and honorary members of the Artillery Clerks' Association with a minimum of five years’ continuous membership.

Contribution Areas:

  • Demonstrated leadership in projects or Association initiatives.

  • Long-term, consistent service and commitment to the Association.

  • Introduction of innovative ideas or improvements.

  • Mentorship, support and guidance provided to fellow members.

  • Efforts to foster collaboration and teamwork.

  • Support for members' welfare and overall well-being.

  • Representation of the Association in official or public capacities.

Nomination and Selection Process

Nominations must be submitted to the Association Secretary by 14th March each year. Each nomination must be endorsed by a separate active, paid-up member or honorary member of the Association.

The Nomination Form is available on the tab above.

Nominations are circulated by the Association Secretary to the members of the Association Committee for their review and evaluation. The winner will be selected by a majority vote of the Association Committee, prior or during the Association Committee Meeting (ACM) held prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The Association Charter states that a quorum for an ACM is four members. In the event of a tied vote during the selection process —or if the Committee reaches an impasse due to a conflict of interest or other circumstances—the Chair of the ACM, or a designated nominee, will hold the casting vote.

In exceptional circumstances, nominations may be considered outside of this meeting, subject to Committee approval.

Announcement and Presentation

Following the selection, the Association Chairman will inform the award recipient and invite him to attend the Annual Reunion Dinner held in June.

The recipient will be announced across the Association’s communication platforms, as soon as possible after the ACM has made their decision and at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The award will be officially presented by the Honorary President during the Annual Reunion Dinner.

Selection and Evaluation – Role of the Association Committee

Each member of the Association Committee is responsible for evaluating all nominations, considering the significance, scope, and alignment of each nominee's contributions with the Association’s values and mission. They are to base their decision on the following key criteria:

  • The extent to which the nominee’s contributions have had a lasting and positive effect on the Association and its members.

  • Evidence of leadership, innovation, or the introduction of ideas and programmes that have advanced the Association or fostered a spirit of collaboration.

  • Demonstrated long-term commitment, consistent involvement and reliability in supporting the Association’s activities.

  • The nominee’s ability to work collaboratively and uphold the mission, objectives and values of the Association.

Additional Provisions

  • Award Integrity: The Committee reserves the right to withhold the award in any year where no nominee meets the required criteria. In exceptional cases, "special mentions" or alternative recognitions may be awarded at the Committee’s discretion.

  • Documentation and Legacy: The Association Secretary will maintain records of all nominations, decisions, and recipients. A historical list of awardees, including summaries of their contributions, will be preserved for reference and inspiration.

  • Publicity and Communication: The Chairman and Secretary will coordinate efforts to promote the award within the Association and across the broader Gunner community through newsletters, the website, and social media platforms.

Feedback and Review

An annual review of the award process will be conducted by the Chairman and Secretary to identify opportunities for improvement.

Member feedback will be actively encouraged and reviewed to ensure the award remains relevant, fair and meaningful.

On 9 th April 2025, the Association Committee announced that Dave Cussell was awarded the inaugural Kemish Award in recognition of his exceptional service and long-standing committed to the Artillery Clerks’ Association.
